When we started studying the market and the different types of hair that exists, we realized that the first question that people normally ask to a prospective buyer is:
Do you want human or synthetic hair?
It seems like a very easy and straightforward question but, here at Lolasilk we believe there is a better way to help you to pick what would be the best fit.
Some important questions that you need to ask yourself when buying new hair are:
We’ve written this post to help you think through your choices. Let’s start with the question:
How will you use the hair?
If you are thinking about styling your hair for a special occasion, then it could be easier to look for a wig. But, if you want hair that will define your style on a daily basis, then you might be interested in buying weaves. Weaves are super flexible. You can install them directly onto your head and have your style locked in day after day. In addition, you can ask a professional to build a wig customized to the style that you want.
The next question that you should ask yourself is:
What about colours? Do you want to stick to the classic black/brown or maybe go a little bit bolder, like an ombré or highlights?
If you want to invest in colours, the best option would be either getting top quality human hair that you can dye or buying non-human hair that has already a colour that you love.
Some people may feel a little skeptical about buying non-human hair, but the truth is the market has evolved so much in terms of synthetic hair that in some cases, you can’t even tell the difference between human and non-human.
Look for non-human hair made with flexi fibers that are heat resistant, so you can wash and restyle it using a blow-dryer, a flat iron or a curling iron. This will give you the chance to change styles but also to make it look new again.
Flexi fibers are perfect for when you want an eye catching look but don’t want to cut or dye your expensive human weaves. For example, if you feel like having a fringe, it is better to start off by getting this style in flexi fibers. Try it out and see if you like before deciding to cut a fringe on your human hair weaves or wigs.
If you are considering bolder colours and willing to spend more, then you can pick top quality human hair, where the strands are aligned in the same direction. This is very important if you want to play with bolder colours. The dying effect will look exactly the way you want.
If you want to stick to black or brown colours, then you don’t have to pay more for the alignment of the strands. Independent of the human hair line that you pick, choose hair that feels silky and soft and remember: maintenance will be very important.
The last point you should consider is the longevity of the hair. Non-human hair will tangle more than human hair. Tangling and the amount of time that you have to dedicate for maintenance, will define the longevity of the hair, so you need to think about that when deciding which line you should consider. Sometimes, the most expensive option is not the best if you feel that you will not have time to take care of your hair.
In addition: straight hair, either non-human or human will demand less maintenance then curly or body wave textures. You can also style the straight hair to resemble the curly or body wave look. But unless you ask for help from a professional, the hair might not look exactly as if you had bought the hair already in that specific texture.
